Walnut wheels
Recipe for chocolate dipped walnut rounds made from shortcrust pastry.
Ingredients
- 250 g Plain flour
- 125 g powdered sugar
- 200 g Ground walnuts
- 150 g butter
- 1 a piece egg
- pinch of salt
- rum essence
- orange peel
- damson cheese
- chocolate icing

Directions
Sift the flour onto a work surface, add the caster sugar, ground nuts and a pinch of salt. Make a well in the centre and add the chopped butter, egg, rum essence and grated orange peel. Using your hands, quickly work the dough until smooth and leave it to rest for at least half an hour in the fridge.
Then roll out the dough to a thickness of about 1 cm and cut out rounds. Place the rounds on a baking tray lined with baking paper and bake them in a preheated oven at 180 degrees for about 10-12 minutes.
After baking, stick them together with jam or filling and pour chocolate over them.
