Directions
Start by bringing a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook until al dente as per the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
While the pasta is boiling, you can make the marinara sauce. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, stirring til it gets soft and translucent.
Add the minced garlic to the skillet and stir it for about a minute until it releases its fragrant aroma. Be careful not to let it burn.
Now, add in the cans of plum tomatoes, including the juice. Break the tomatoes down with your spoon as they cook.
Sprinkle in the dried oregano and some salt and black pepper to season. Let the sauce simmer for around 20 minutes until it reduces and thickens.
Just before the sauce is ready, add in the torn basil leaves. Stir them into the sauce and let it simmer for another minute to infuse the sauce with its flavor.
Once the sauce is ready, add the cooked spaghetti to the skillet, tossing it in the sauce to make sure every strand is beautifully coated.
Serve the Spaghetti Marinara warm with a generous sprinkling of grated Parmesan cheese on top.
