Directions

40 min.
1. Step

To make mulled wine jam, pour the red wine into a large saucepan. Add the gelling sugar and stir well until it has completely dissolved. Start with a low heat and increase as necessary - but never to the highest setting. This is a tip I remembered the first time I boiled the jam.

2. Step

Add the juice of the oranges and lemon. Make sure that no seeds get into the pot - this can affect the taste.

3. Step

Peel an organic orange with a peeler to obtain long strips of peel and add these to the pot, along with the cinnamon sticks, cloves and star anise.

4. Step

Cook the mixture over a medium heat for about 20 minutes, stirring constantly. It is important to stir constantly to ensure that the jam does not burn.

5. Step

After 20 minutes, remove the pan from the heat and allow the mixture to cool slightly. Remove the cinnamon sticks, orange peel strips and star anise.

6. Step

Fill the mulled wine jam into clean jars. Close the jars immediately, then the jam will keep longer and is a great option for a handmade gift.

7. Step

Enjoy your homemade mulled wine jam on fresh bread or rolls for the ultimate Christmas breakfast experience!
