Juicy pulled turkey
Pulled turkey is a dish that is particularly close to my heart. Not only does it taste incredibly delicious, but it's also a great way to use up leftover meat. I like to use the meat from a whole turkey to make a larger portion that I can then use for different occasions, such as barbecues.
Ingredients
- 1 whole turkey
- 3 cloves of garlic
- 2 Onions
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 500 ml chicken stock cube
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper

Directions
To make your own pulled turkey, start by washing and drying the turkey thoroughly. Tips from my experience: Really allow the turkey to dry completely before you process it further, otherwise the spices and marinade will not adhere well to the meat.
Then rub the meat with salt, pepper, brown sugar and paprika. Feel free to add a little more spice here, as this intensifies the flavor after cooking.
Peel and roughly chop the onions and garlic.
In the next step, heat the olive oil in a large pan and sear the turkey on all sides. The key here is to be patient and only sear one side at a time so that the meat remains juicy.
Once the turkey is browned all over, add the onions and garlic and pour in the chicken stock. Now the plan is to simmer everything together on a low heat for about 4-5 hours. Don't be shy and check the meat from time to time, it should be easy to cut up in the end.
When the turkey is soft enough, remove it from the pot and shred the meat with 2 forks.
Add the pulled meat back into the pot and mix well with the sauce. And your pulled turkey is ready!
