How to make Traditional Italian Panna Cotta
This creamy and indulgent dessert originates from Italy. Panna cotta, meaning cooked cream, is a silky smooth dessert that is light, delicate, and effortlessly elegant. With a hint of vanilla, it is the perfect way to end a delightful meal.
Ingredients
- 11⁄2 Cup heavy cream
- 1⁄2 Cup milk
- 1⁄2 Cup crystal sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 21⁄2 teaspoons gelatin
- Fresh berries or caramel sauce for topping (optional)

Directions
In a small bowl combine the gelatin and 1/4 cup of milk. Allow it to sit and soften for about 5 minutes.
In a saucepan, pour in the heavy cream, remaining milk, and granulated sugar. Place the saucepan on medium and stir gently until the mixture starts to steam and the sugar has dissolved completely. Do not let it boil.
Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Slowly whisk in the gelatin mixture until it is completely dissolved.
Divide the mixture evenly among 4 serving cups. Let them cool slightly before refrigerating overnight, until set and firm.
Garnish with fresh berries or drizzle caramel sauce on top, if desired.
