Directions

150 min.
1. Step

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and grease the sides and bottom of your rectangular baking pan.

2. Step

In a large bowl, mix together sugar, flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla and mix for 2 minutes at medium speed. Stir in the boiling water until well combined.

3. Step

Pour the mixture into the prepared baking pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let the cake cool completely in the pan.

4. Step

Once the cake is cooled, use a serrated knife to sculpt the cake into a truck shape. Remove any excess cake and save it for another use.

5. Step

To make the frosting, beat together the butter and sugar until creamy. Add in the milk and vanilla and continue to beat until light and fluffy.

6. Step

Frost the entire cake with a thin layer of the frosting, then place it in the refrigerator for about 15-20 minutes to allow the frosting to set.

7. Step

Once the frosting’s set, apply another layer of frosting, this time more liberally. Smooth out the frosting with a knife or spatula.

8. Step

Roll out the fondant, cut into shapes for the truck's details - windows, doors, tires, and any other details you'd like. Use food coloring to make the colors you desire.

9. Step

Stick the fondant pieces onto the frosted cake, and use the gel coloring to make the outlines of the windows, doors, and other details.

10. Step

Enjoy!
