Gingerbread

To make the festive season truly intimate and personal, no one should miss a home-made gingerbread from the festive table. I've made this recipe several times over the years and it's always a big hit.

1. Step

Measure out all the ingredients. Helpful hint: sift the flour to make the gingerbread more airy!

2. Step

Place the honey, sugar and butter in a bowl and melt over a low heat, stirring constantly.

3. Step

When the melted ingredients are sufficiently combined, add the egg, gingerbread spice mix and baking soda. Next, add the flour, a small amount at first to make the mixture easy to work with.

4. Step

When the dough has come together, refrigerate for at least half an hour. Let the dough rest, it will be easier to shape!

5. Step

Shape the dough into cut-out shapes or traditional gingerbread figures, then bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius for 10-12 minutes.
