1. Step

Preheat your oven to 350°F (176°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

In a high-sided mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Stir until well blended.

Incorporate the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract into the dry mixture. Stir until the mixture is smooth and well combined.

Gradually add the boiling water into the batter. Mix it well until the mixture is smooth.

Pour the batter evenly between the two prepared cake pans.

Bake in the preheated oven for about 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Once done, remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool in the pans for about 10 minutes. Then, transfer them onto a wire rack to cool completely.

Spread a layer of vanilla frosting on top of one of the cooled cakes. Place the other cake on top of the frosting. Then frost the top and sides of the cake.

Decorate the frosted cake with M&M candies as desired. Allow it to set for a few minutes before serving.
