Directions

135 min.
1. Step

Begin by mixing the bread flour, dried yeast, salt, and white sugar in a large bowl.

2. Step

Stir the warm water, melted butter and egg into the dry ingredients and knead to form a soft dough.

3. Step

Once formed, cover the dough and leave it to rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.

4. Step

While the dough is rising, prepare the filling by mixing the softened butter, brown sugar, instant coffee powder, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

5. Step

Roll out the risen dough on a floured surface into a rectangular shape. Spread the filling evenly on top.

6. Step

Roll the dough tightly from the long side and cut into 12 equal pieces. Place these cut pieces into a greased baking tray in a spiral shape.

7. Step

Allow the dough to rise a second time for approximately 30 minutes or until the scrolls have puffed up.

8. Step

Bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius for 25 minutes or until golden brown.

9. Step

To the glaze, mix the icing sugar with coffee and vanilla extract until smooth. Drizzle over the hot coffee scrolls.

10. Step

Let the scrolls cool slightly before serving.
