Delicious decorated Christmas cookies

If there's one thing I love about Christmas time, it's family traditions and a very special one for me is the preparation of these decorated Christmas cookies. I love being able to spend some time baking with my kids and see their faces full of joy when they see the results. They are simple, delicious and so much fun to make. Besides, decorating them is a fantastic activity to share as a family and to stimulate the creativity of the little ones.

Directions

120 min.
1. Step

The first thing to do is to preheat the oven to 180 degrees. Remember that this temperature is ideal for the cookies to acquire that perfect texture.

2. Step

In a large bowl, mix the flour, salt and baking soda. In another bowl, cream the butter and sugar until fluffy. This is an important step for the texture of your cookies, make sure the butter is already soft.

3. Step

Add the egg, vanilla and almond extract to the bowl with the butter. Beat well until everything is incorporated.

4. Step

Now it's time to add the dry ingredients mixture to the other bowl, little by little and mixing well. Don't worry if at first it doesn't seem to mix well, keep stirring and you will achieve the right texture.

5. Step

Once our dough is ready, the next step is to roll it out with a rolling pin until it is about 0.5 cm thick.

6. Step

Now cut the cookies with your favorite Christmas cookie cutters. I usually use a star-shaped one, a Christmas tree one and a gingerbread doll one.

7. Step

Place the cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 8-10 minutes. I recommend keeping a constant eye on them so they don't burn.

8. Step

Let the cookies cool completely before decorating. This is where the real fun comes in, use your colored icing and decorate them however you like.
