Delicious Christmas fritters
Christmas fritters have been a tradition in my house since I was a child. My grandmother used to prepare them every December and even though a lot of time has passed, continuing with that custom makes me feel close to her. This recipe is special to me, because it combines that Christmas nostalgia with the pleasure of cooking. It is simple, delicious and always leaves a Christmas aroma at home.

Directions
In a large bowl, mix all the dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, sugar and salt. Remember to sift them to avoid lumps.
Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and add the eggs, milk and orange zest. I like to use a coarse zest to give a more intense flavor to the fritter.
Mix everything until a homogeneous dough is formed. It may be a little sticky, but this is normal. Add a little flour if necessary to make it easier to handle.
Form small balls with the dough. This is the fun part where you can involve the whole family.
Heat enough oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Try to keep the oil hot, but not smoking, so that the fritters brown evenly.
Fry the dumplings until golden brown, be careful not to burn yourself! Ideally they should float in the oil for even cooking, it's something that took me a while to learn.
Place the browned fritters on a plate with paper towels to remove excess fat.
Sprinkle the cooled fritters with sugar. In my house we like to use powdered sugar, but regular sugar also works.
And that's it, you have delicious Christmas fritters. Remember to enjoy the process and share these delicacies with your loved ones, Happy Holidays!
