Traditional Mexican Fresh Tomatillo Salsa Verde
Relish the authentic zing of Mexican cuisine with this Tomatillo Salsa Verde. This recipe is an excellent addition to your everyday eating. You can serve it with nachos, over enchiladas, or any Mexican dish for an added burst of flavor!
Ingredients
- 11⁄2 Pounds fresh tomatillos
- 1⁄2 Cup finely chopped white onion
- 1⁄2 Cup chopped cilantro leaves
- 1 tablespoon Fresh Lime Juice
- 2 Jalapeño peppers, stemmed seeded and chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- salt to taste

Directions
Start by removing the husks from the tomatillos and rinse them thoroughly to remove the sticky residue. After cleaning, cut them in half.
Place the tomatillos, Jalapeño peppers, garlic, and onion to a baking tray and broil them in the oven until tomatillos are roasted. It will usually take about 7-10 minutes.
Now, carefully transfer the roasted tomatillos, jalapenos, garlic, and onion into a blender. Add the chopped cilantro leaves and fresh lime juice.
Blend the concoction until it becomes a coarse puree.
Transfer the salsa to a serving dish, and enjoy your homemade Tomatillo-Salsa Verde.
