Slow-Cooker French Onion Dip
When you cook onions for a long time, they turn translucent and trade their bite for a sweet-savory flavor that’s so good you want to dive into it. Well, you can dive your chips and crackers and crudités in this recipe. Slow-cooking onions for 7 to 9 hours is taking caramelizing to the next level. We suggest that you double the recipe and freeze half of the onion mixture for the next time you make French onion dip.
Ingredients
- 3 onions, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 Cup sour cream
- 1⁄2 Cup mayonnaise
- 1⁄2 teaspoon garlic powder
- salt and pepper
- garnish with chives, chopped

Directions
Add olive oil and onions to a slow cooker. Cover and cook onions on low for 7 to 9 hours or until caramelized and soft, stirring occasionally. Let onions cool to room temperature.
In a medium-sized bowl, combine the cooled onions, sour cream, mayonnaise, garlic powder, and a large pinch of salt and pepper. Garnish with chives.
Serve French onion dip with chips or crackers and assorted vegetables.
