Ingredients
- 11⁄2 lbs ground beef
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 red bell pepper, diced
- 1 green bell pepper, diced
- 1 jalapeno pepper, seeds removed and finely chopped
- 2 cans diced tomatoes
- 2 cans kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 2 tbls tomato paste
- 2 tbls chili powder
- 1 tablespoon cumin powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1⁄2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1⁄2 teaspoon sugar
- salt and pepper to taste

Directions
In a large skillet, cook the ground beef on medium-high heat until cooked. Drain any excess fat.
Transfer the meat into the slow cooker.
In the same skillet sauté the onion, garlic, and peppers until they begin to soften and become fragrant. This usually takes about 5 minutes. Add this mixture to the slow cooker.
Add the diced tomatoes, kidney beans, tomato paste, chili powder, cumin, dried oregano, cinnamon, sugar, salt, and pepper to the slow cooker. Stir well to combine all the ingredients.
5.Cook on low heat for 6 hours or on high heat for 3-4 hours. This slow cooking process allows the flavors to meld together.
After the recommended cooking time, taste and adjust the seasoning if needed.
