- 1⁄2 Cup unsalted butter
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups flour
- 2 cups milk
- 1⁄4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 Cup parmesan
- 2 tablespoon Chopped fresh parsley
- 2 tablespoon chopped fresh basil
- 1⁄4 Cup heavy cream (optional)

Begin by melting the butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
Add in the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes.
Sprinkle the flour into the pan and whisk until smooth. Sauté for 1-2 minutes until the mixture becomes slightly golden in color.
Gradually pour in the milk while whisking the mixture. Add in the nutmeg, salt, and black pepper.
Stir and heat for 5 minutes.
Add in the parmesan and whisk until fully incorporated.
Toss the fresh parsley and basil into the sauce and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.
If desired, stir in the heavy cream to make the sauce even creamier.
Serve the gnocchi with the sauce on top.
