Directions
Start by salting the rim of your glass. First, rub a lime wedge around the rim to wet it. Then, dip the rim in a shallow plate filled with salt. This not only gives the drink a charming visual appeal but also adds a contrast of flavor.
After preparing your glass, it’s time to start mixing. Remember to always combine the ingredients in a shaker filled with ice. I’ve learned the hard way that shaking not only chills the drink, it also helps to blend the ingredients perfectly.
Pour in the tequila, fresh lime juice, orange liqueur, and agave syrup into the shaker. Lately, I have been using agave syrup in place of sugar. It not only enhances the flavor but also balances out the sour tones of the lime.
Shake vigorously for about 10 to 15 seconds. Over the years, I’ve found that this is the optimal time to get all the flavors well combined and the mixture chilled.
Strain the cocktail into your prepared glass and garnish with a lime wedge.
