Brazilian Fish Prawn Seafood Stew Moqueca
Moqueca is a traditional Brazilian seafood dish that's bursting with flavor. Fresh fish fillets and shrimp are simmered in a sauce made with diced tomatoes, peppers, onions, and coconut milk, seasoned with palm oil and fresh cilantro. This hearty and vibrant recipe brings a taste of Brazil to your table.
Ingredients
- 1 kg of white fish fillets (eg. cod, hake sea bass)
- 500 g of peeled prawns
- 1 diced onion
- 2 cloves of minced garlic
- 2 diced bell peppers (one red, one green)
- 3 diced tomatoes
- 1 can of coconut milk
- 2 tbls of palm oil
- Juice of one lime
- Bunch of chopped cilantro
- salt and pepper to taste

Directions
Season the fish fillets and prawns with salt, pepper and lime juice. Set aside.
In a large pan, heat the palm oil over medium heat. Add the onion, bell peppers, and garlic. Sauté until soft.
Add the diced tomatoes to the pan and cook until softened.
Lay the fish fillets on top of the vegetables in pan. Pour the coconut milk over the fish and vegetables.
Cover the pan and let it simmer for about 15 minutes until the fish is cooked through.
Add the prawns to the pan and simmer for an additional 5-10 minutes until the prawns are cooked.
Check for seasoning and adjust if necessary.
Top the moqueca with chopped cilantro just before serving.
