Basic Chocolate Cupcake From Scratch Recipe

For the Cupcakes:
- 1 Cup all-purpose flour
- 1⁄2 Cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 3⁄4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1⁄2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1⁄4 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs, at room temperature
- 1 Cup crystal sugar
- 1⁄2 Cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 1⁄2 Cup whole milk
For the Frosting:
- 1⁄2 Cup unsalted butter,
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1⁄2 Cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 tbls whole milk
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Directions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
In a medium bowl, combine the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
In a large bowl, whisk the eggs, granulated sugar, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the egg mixture, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined.
Distribute the batter evenly among the cupcake liners. Bake for 20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a cupcake comes out clean.
While the cupcakes are cooling, prepare the frosting by beating the butter until creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar and cocoa powder, beating on low speed until combined. Increase the speed to medium and add the milk and vanilla extract, beating until fluffy.
Once the cupcakes are completely cooled, frost with the prepared icing.
