Authentic Thai Spicy Tom Yum Soup Recipe
Tom Yum Soup is a popular dish known for its spicy, sour, and aromatic flavors. It can be enjoyed as a starter or as a main course.
Ingredients
- 4 cups broth
- 1 stalk lemongrass, cut into 2-inch pieces
- 3 kaffir lime leaves, torn into pieces
- 1 thumb galangal, sliced
- 3 Thai bird's eye chillies, sliced (adjust quantity based on desire)
- 200 gms shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 200 gms mushrooms, sliced
- 2 tbls lime juice
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- Fresh cilantro leaves, for garnish
- 3 fresh chillies, sliced (optional for garnish)

Directions
In a pot, bring broth to a boil.
Add lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, galangal and Thai bird's eye chillies. Simmer for 10-15 minutes to allow the flavors to infuse into the broth.
Add the shrimp and mushrooms to the pot and cook until the shrimp are pink and cooked.
Season the sauce with lime juice and sugar. Adjust the seasoning according to taste.
Remove the pot from heat and discard lemongrass stalks, lime leaves, and galangal slices.
Ladle the Tom Yum Soup into serving bowls. Garnish with fresh cilantro leaves and sliced Thai chillies if desired.
Serve!
